Why not try going vegetarian?

Earth Day is coming up on April 22 - a time when everyone should become aware of the many problems of global warming and other problems we are passing on to our children.

Factory farms are a major contributor to global warming. And at a time like this we need to look at all ways and means to help clean up the mess we've made. And provide future generations with a home planet on which to live.

Farmed animals produce about 130 times as much excrement as all the humans in the U.S. Most of this excrement cannot be recycled into fertilizers, but has to go somewhere. Do we just continue to let it build into large piles?

Nearly half the water consumed in the U.S. is used for livestock. Luckily in the U.S. we don't have the severe water shortages many countries have, however, clean water is becoming scarce.

My suggestion? Look into the alternative of vegetarianism. Going vegetarian is easier than ever. Many people look at the idea of going without meat as a loss of a meal. I know in farm communities meat as an entree is a staple. Don't look at is as if you need a meat substitute, but as if you need a healthy meal. You can always visit for more information, or many of the vegetarian cookbooks and magazines.

I'm just offering an idea to help our children.
